ESPN.com describes Cleveland Melvin as a very athletic four man who has a long but lean physique. He is at his best in the open floor because he runs the court exceptionally well and finishes explosively above the rim without breaking his stride. Recently, the postgrad from Notre Dame Prep decided UConn was not the right fit for him. Melvin re-opened his recruitment is looking at several top notch schools for next year. What are his plans? We found out some details.

Why did you decide to de-commit from UConn? I decided to de-commit from UConn basically because I wanted 2 reopen my recruitment process up and have the chance to play more out on the wing when I go to college.

Did Jim Calhoun’s health impact or chances of retiring playing any impact your decision? No it did not.

Coach Calhoun just signed a 4-year extension. Does UConn interest you anymore or are they off the list? No. They are off my list now.

What is your current college list? My list consists of Duke, Pittsburgh, Marquette, Miami (FL), South Florida, Seton Hall, DePaul and TCU.

When do you plan on making your commitment to a school? I plan on making my commitment real soon like before the end of the signing period.

If you do not find the right decision will you do another postgrad year? If I do not find the right decision then no, I will not do another postgrad year.

On a different note, how has the season been? My prep school season at Notre Dame went very well. I think I improved on my wing skills game a lot better. I improved on becoming more of a team leader and being more vocal out on the the court. I was averaging 16 points, 12 rebounds, 5 blocks, and 4 assists a game during my prep school season.

What is one thing most people do not know about Cleveland Melvin? One thing most people do not know about me is that I’m a cool and funny guy. I like to joke and have a lot of fun with my family and friends. I also love to eat seafood and dessert is my favorite meal lol.

We want to thank Cleveland Melvin for the interview and wish him the best of luck with his decision.
