As you can see, this soccer player is truly a talented player who will continue to do great things on the field. The scouting report on topdrawersoccer.com has nothing but good things to say about this player. This scouting report sums up the talented Chioma quickly.
Chioma is a fun player to watch. She has the type of speed that absolutely brings something special to the field. She has an extra gear to her game that was nearly impossible to stop at the Adidas ESP 2009. Combined with her speed and good physical size she is also gifted with the left foot. In one sequence she dribble through three defenders to finish off with a spectacular goal. She is a pure goal scorer who is fast as lightning. At the end of the day she was named to the All-Star Team. She definitely turned some heads with her fantastic potential. As she continues to develop into a player who can dominate for 90 minutes she will be unstoppable. Agile and quick, good on the ball and smart off the ball.
We were able to interview Chioma, check it out below!
MessGirl-How does it feel being the #2 player for 2011 in the nation and #1 in Texas(topdrawersoccer.com)?
Chioma Ubogagu-I think it is a big honor. My personal goal was always trying to be one of the best soccer players for my age, so to me the accolade means I am somewhat reaching my goal.
MessGirl-How was your experience at the U.S. U-18 WNT Training Camp?
Chioma Ubogagu-I have only been to about 2 or 3 camps with the U18′s, but I love it. Everyone there is a top player in their states, so the level of play is always high. You have to show up every training session and every game to prove you deserve minutes on the field.
MessGirl-What do you gain from playing at the National Level?
Chioma Ubogagu-I think it makes me a better player. The people there all have such a talent and different skills that it makes my game better. Their strengths may be my weakenesses, so it challenges all parts of my game and makes me improve overall.
MessGirl-You play for the D’Feeters, How’s your experience with the team and how have they shaped you into the player you are now?
Chioma Ubogagu-I have been with the D’Feeter’s since the first year you are able to play club. The parents and my teammates are my second family. The training complex where we practice is my home away from home. They’ve helped me grow a tremendous amount, especially techinically. I owe alot of my accomplishments to my club.
MessGirl-It says on the site you are being recruited by Harvard, Texas, Florida, UCLA, Notre Dame, Duke, Stanford, TCU, and SMU correct? Now, I know you can’t say which school you are 100% for or anything but can you give us a hint which school you are leaning more towards if you can
Chioma Ubogagu-Yeah those are the schools I have shown interest in and communicated with the coaches about scheduling visits. I have it more limited down to UCLA, Stanford, UT, & UNC as of right now, but no further decisions have been made between my family & I.
MessGirl-How’s your experience playing for Coppell HS and what have you gained from that experience?
Chioma Ubogagu-I love playing high school soccer! I admit it is way different than club, but I love playing for my school and playing with my friends from different club teams and ages. It also made me a more composed playey. It helped me take risks, try certain moves, and even try to makecertain passes that I may not have attempted in club game.
MessGirl-What are some of your goals as a junior at Coppell?
Academically, my goal this year was to make all A’s eveyr 6 weeks which I have kept up with so far. Soccer wise, I would love to win another state championship.
MessGirl-Why do you think soccer in Texas is as better or close to many of the other soccer powerhouse states (California, Florida, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, etc)
Chioma Ubogagu-That’s a really good question. To be honest, I don’t know. I guess it’s because of the way Texas sets up their leagues. They try to make it where every game is against high caliber opponent. So when you are consistently playing great teams in your own state it’s nothing new when you are matched up against a team out of state.
MessGirl-Do you ever think about playing professional soccer?
Chioma Ubogagu-Yes! Ever since I was three I told my mom, my dad, and my brothers that I wanted to be a professional soccer player. It always has and still is my dream.
MessGirl-Who influenced you to play soccer?
Chioma Ubogagu-It wasn’t really just one person. I think just where I was born and my family had a big impact on the decision. I was born in London, England and ‘futbol’ is THE sport. Also, my two older brothers both played young and at my age then I wanted to do whatever they did. My grandpa played professsional soccer in Nigeria for the Falcons and the Tottenham Hotspurs in England too.
MessGirl-What are some future goals?
Chioma Ubogagu-Being a junior now, I hope to find a college that I love and see myself at. Hopefully it is acadamically strong as well as having the potential to win a Women’s College Cup. That is really my main goal as of right now.
