Tyrone Garland Talks Virginia Tech

Tyrone Garland is a senior at John Bartram High School in Philadelphia, Pa., where he plays for head coach James Brown. Last season as a junior, he was a first team All-City selection by the Philadelphia Daily News and a first team All-State selection in Class AAAA by the Associated Press. Garland was the leading scorer in Philadelphia and the Philly Public League as a junior, averaging 28.9 points per game. He is a three-star recruit by Rivals.com and is the #26 point guard nationally by Scout.com.

Recently, Tyrone talked with us about all things basketball and his future.

“I picked Virginia Tech because it was the best place for me. All of the coaches like me and I like them back. For my Senior year, my goals are to get better as a player and as a person. When a signed the letter of intent to be a Hokie it felt great. That took a lot off my back. When it comes to who the best guard in Philadelphia, I dont get into all that stuff. I just know if I’m not the best I’m one of the best in the city. If I did not pick Virginia Tech I would have stayed home and gone to a more local school. When it comes to my college career, anything can happen. I just know I’ll have a soild career and just finish college.”
