Recently the world of recruiting has been dominated by the news of Tobias Harris. Harris, who we interviewed twice, commited to Tennessee. Think the fun is over for that family? It’s just beginning! Tyler Harris is the latest in line from the family to be recruited highly. We caught up with the younger Harris to talk all things recruiting as well as his brother.
What is your current list of schools? Which have offered? I have interest from- Wisconsin, West Virgina, Tennessee, George Mason, Virgina Tech, Davidson, Hofstra, UConn, Maryland, and Siena. My offers are – UConn, Fordham, Hofstra, Delaware, Duquesne, and Seton Hall wants to offer me because they emailed my father saying they did but they haven’t called me saying it straight to me.
Your brother Tobias has been through the recruiting process. What have you learned from his experience? I learned through the recuriting process that there is a lot to?do and there is a lot to look into the school, not just the basketball. You have to look at the academics and players on the team.
Tobias commited to Tennessee. Could you see yourself ending up there as well? Umm maybe. If it comes down to Tennessee, Tobias and I want to go to?different schools because we’ve been together all our life and played?together. It would be nice for once to play against him.
You are a while away but have you set a plan for your commitment yet? I plan on committing to a high D1 school, just like my brother, but?I won’t be committing early.
When you were younger did you ever have a college team that you wanted to play for? Growing up my favorite schools were North Carolina and UConn.
What are your goals for the rest of high school? This year my goal is to average about 20 points per game and go to states and win.?I also want to improve my game even more by going to?the hole more and not just rely on my jump shot.
What is something we do not know about Tyler Harris? I have gained 15 lbs since the middle of the summer.?I have been getting a lot stronger, quicker, and have matured my game a lot more.
We want to thank Tyler Harris for the interview and wish him the best of luck on his junior season.
