It is Sesame Street’s 40th anniversary!

*This event is celebrated on many places on the internet, including Google*

On November 10th, Sesame Street will start its 40th anniversary season. It’s interesting to see that 40 years ago this show started as an experiment in education programming and is still considered one of the most viewed children shows. It has become a pop culture icon, especially with characters such as Cookie Monster, Elmo, Big Bird, and more. Elmo joined the show in 1979 and it wasn’t until 1985 where Elmo became the “Tickle Me Elmo” we know today.

But the last couple years there has been some changes to Sesame Street. In an attempt to fight child obesity, the show changed Cookie Monster’s favorite quote “C is for cookie, that’s good enough for me” to ” Cookies are a sometimes food.” In 2006, a fairy named Abby Cadabby joined the show and Sesame Street is adding a segment to the show that will feature new characters in 3-D CGI (Computer-Generated Imagery)

Even with the changes, Sesame Street will always be a great show.
