Over the past couple of weeks, Tobias Harris, one of the top prospects in the class of 2010, has had many in-home visits with some of the best colleges in the country. The list goes all over from Oklahoma to Syracuse to Kentucky to Georgia Tech and much more. During this time, Tobias teamed up with Box Of M.E.S.S. to create an in-home visit journal from every visit he had. The following entries contain a paragraph each about every visit. He talks about what happened, key points of emphasis and much more.

Kentucky September 9
Time: 7:00pm

The first visit with Kentucky went well. Coach Cal did a great job of trying to explain to my parents the academics of the school and how I would be a good fit in the dribble drive offense. We watched some video of their offense and where I would be in their system. Coach Cal is a very straight forward person who wants to coach me and I can tell from the visit he gets the best out of his players.

Georgia Tech September 10
Time: 7:00pm

The visit last night also went well with Georgia Tech. I really got a great understanding on the academics of the school and how I would fit in and play right away. Coach Hewitt wants me to be a guy who can come in and be a scorer. He looks for me to be one of those productive guys like (former Georgia Tech stars) Chris Bosh and Thaddeus Young were.

Notre Dame September 11
Time: 7:00pm

The visit with Coach Brey and Coach Soloman went well. We were able to discuss my role on the team. Basically, he wants me to come in, be ready to play major minutes and help lead the team. He explained his offense and showed me how I would be able to play multiple positions on the floor.

Syracuse September 12
Time: 12:00pm

Coach Boeheim and Coach Hopkins are two great coaches and people. I really enjoyed the in-home visit. They showed me their offense and how I would be able to play in their system. They look for me to be able to play the 3 or the 4 but to me it doesn?t matter. I just want to show my whole game. My mom got to understand more about the academics and the whole system which was good, as well.

UCONN September 12
Time: 3:00pm

(*This in-home visit was cancelled for an unspecified reason. The Harris Family and UConn Coaching staff are meeting for an in-home visit Wednesday, September 23. After that final in-home visit, Tobias will cut his list down to 5 schools.*)

Louisville September 12
Time: 6:00pm

Later that day we had Coach Pitino and his assistant Coach McCarty. They showed me the plan that they would have for me if I came to Louisville. Coach Pitino has great individual instruction and gets the best out of his guys which is another great fact. He would also like to see me play the 3 position in his offense and do many things such as post, come off screens and play my overall game.

St. John’s September 13
Time: 3:00pm

Coach Roberts’ main focus was bringing up reasons why I should stay home. His team is turning it around and improving a lot. He explained to me how the time I would come in the team would be maturing and I would have a significant effect as a freshman. Also, I would be close to home but still kind of isolated at the same time.

Tennessee September 13
Time; 6:00pm

Coach Pearl and his staff always have a lot of energy, which my mom really likes. He really showed how if I came in I could fill that spot Tyler Smith has and do many of the things he does like shoot 3′s, screen and rolls, posting up and also getting a rebound and going coast to coast. He also explained the academics and that if I were to leave early I would have the opportunity to come back and finish. I would get my degree at the University.

Oklahoma September 14
Time: 7:00pm

The visit with Oklahoma went well. They have a good program and good academics. The coaches would like me to come in and be an impact player like Blake Griffin was but play a totally different roll. Coach Capel seemed like a good guy and a coach that wants all of his players to compete.

West Virginia September 15
Time: 7:00pm

Coach Huggins and his staff are great guys. My mom and dad really liked them as coaches and people. It is obvious he gets the best out of his players and works them hard every day. They are losing Desean Butler and would want me to come in and fill that spot. They want me to do many of the things he does on the floor. They also explained the academics and their strength training program.

Maryland September 17
Time: 7:00pm

Coach Williams’ main focus was to show me how I would fit into his system. With the recruits that have already committed along with the other guys on the team, he really explained the roll for me as a freshman. I would be a scorer and he would let me play my game right away. He also showed me the academics and talked about the professional players he has made during his time at Maryland.

At the end of the interview I asked Tobias about his plans for the future. As stated earlier, he will visit with Coach Calhoun and UConn on Wednesday the 23rd. He still insists that he has no favorites. One the UConn visit is over he will narrow it down to 5 schools from the list of 11. Along with the fact of no favorites, he has not planned any official visits yet. They will probably be planned once he narrows his list down. We want to thank Tobias Harris for the exclusive diary on his 11 in-home visits with colleges. We also want to wish him the best of luck in choosing a college.
