Recently, high school basketball has been full of great guards, both shooting and points. Brad Beal is one of them. The 6′3 Shooting Guard from St. Louis is one of the most talented players in the class of 2011. Some say he might stay at home and pick a local school. Some say he will travel to a bigger school. This interview with Brad can certainly clarify some important questions!

What is your current list of colleges? Do you have a favorite??I don’t have a favorite college at all but my list consists of Illinois, Florida, Kansas, Mizzou, Duke, Ohio State, and Purdue, in no particular order.

You are only a rising Junior. Have you taken any visits or made plans for some??I have planned some. Maybe I’ll go to a few football games and watch some practices or go to some midnight madnesses or go to a few basketball games. I’m still kind of debating?right now on which ones?I want to do.

What was it like playing in some of the biggest tournaments and camps this summer? It was really exicting playing in big tourneys and camps this summer because?I was playing against some of the top players in my class and in older and younger classes.?I just wanted to show them I’m just as good as they are if not better and show some of the college coaches what?I am capable of doing.

Scout.com ranks you as the #1 Shooting Guard in the class of 2011. How big of an honor is this for you? It’s a really big honor for me.?I believe?I deserved it and that it was a blessing for me because God blessed me with many talents and abilities and?I just give Him all the credit for my success so without him?I would not have been awarded with being the number one shooting guard in my class.

When do you plan on commiting to a college? I am most likely planning on committing before the start of our basketball season this year.?My list is going to start decreasing more and?I just want to get this over with because its getting a little bit crazy. But on the other hand, I’m still in the process of just enjoying it as well.

What are your goals for your Junior season as well as your final year of AAU? I want to do better in every statistical category than?I did the past year. I want to be able to do other things better on the court than?I did last year. I want to get better each game and keep my stats increasing. Most of all, win our conference and win another state championship.

In the coming months, which other colleges do you think will offer you??I’m not sure which other schools will offer me in the next few weeks or so but?I would probably have?made my decision by that time.

What are you looking for in a college program? I am looking for a college that has a great academic system over anything because that is what’s most important to me. I also want a school that plays together as a team, encourages each other and a team that can get up and down the floor.

Have any of the recent problems involving Louisville, Memphis, Kentucky, USC and more impacted you? No not at all. They have not effected me at all. I havent even heard anything about them to be honest but I’m just going to focus on the schools that have offered me already and keep my eyes open and see which program fits me best.

If a coach like Isiah Thomas was to offer you a scholarship to FIU, would you be interested because of his stature? I would not be interested because of his stature but because he has been in the NBA before and he knows what it takes to get there and he really knows the game a basketball.

Brad continues to show just how good a player he is by constantly exceeding expectations. The spotlight will be on him but it seems he will be ready to take it on. Beal is a fierce shooter and at times, just doesn’t miss. We want to thank Brad Beal for the interview and wish him the best of luck on his college decision.
