E3 Expo Wrap-Up 2009

As many of you may or may not know, the E3 Expo just recently ended last week on June 4th 2009. To make up for, as some may say, last year?s not as great E3 performance, this years was great. This year there was more then 41,000 people attending the expo, representing over 75 different countries. Many people said that this year?s E3 Expo exceeded expectations, including Richard Iggo, vice president for Marketing for South Peak Interactive Corporation.

For those of you who aren?t familiar, the E3 Expo is one of the greatest shows for video/computer games,? and related products. The show comes once a year and usually promotes new and upcoming games/gaming systems.

Now lets get to some of the highlights. A brand new design of the Sony PSP was announced. This new PSP is called PSPgo and will be released this fall. One of the most popular games for the Xbox 360, Halo, had some announcements to make. One of which was that there will be a whole new Halo game, called Halo: Reach. Halo: Reach will focus on the fall of the Spartan colony on the planet Reach. A second announcement that Halo had was that Halo 3: ODST will be released on September 22nd. Halo 3: ODST will contain an all new campaign for players to experience, so pick your copy up late September.

Some other major games that were announced at the E3 expo were Mass Effect 2, the second game following Mass Effect looks promising with it?s smooth graphics, and follow-up story line. Assassins Creed 2, the second out of the trilogy takes place in the Italian Renaissance as you play as Ezio Auditore da Firenze with many upgraded weapons and gadgets to make him a kill-all assassin. Tom Clancy?s Splinter Cell: Conviction is the fifth splinter cell game, and will take a whole new story line. In this Splinter Cell you still play as Agent Sam Fisher, but your all alone. You learn that the Third Echelon, your ex-agency, had something to do with his daughter?s death, and have to put it together in a stealthily method to find justice for Sam?s daughter’s death. Finally we come to Alan Wake. Alan Wake has been in production for some years with release dates constantly being pushed back, but finally with the recent preview at the E3 Expo it had fans on the edge saying that it looked better than they imagined.

One more thing I wanted to cover was a new gaming experience called DJ Hero. This is made by Activison and it is basically Guitar Hero, but with turn tables. This game confused many people, but had many people playing it as well. For those of you who like music games, this is a must get. This game will be released on September 30th 2009.

This review was just some of the major games that were shown at the Expo, there were hundreds of new games and related content shown. As the summers biggest video game convention came to a close many look forward to next year?s E3 Expo which will take place from June 15-17.
