The Hotchkiss School is full of tradition, one being their basketball team. A key contributer to their success in the 21st century is current junior standout, Jason Morris. Morris is one of the top 50 players in the class of 2010 and could potentially rise his stock up enough to become an All American next year. While he has already received many scholarships from ACC, Big East, and other great schools, Morris has remained modest and has a solid work ethic. We caught up with the 6’4 Foward for this interview.
Hotchkiss had a pretty good year. Would you reflect on the season? “We had a good season this year; two years straight undefeated in our league. Our out of league play wasnt as good as last year but progressed as a team in those games since our team was much younger than previous years as well.”
What are your goals for your senior season? “Each year we go one step further in the playoffs and next and is the year to win it all.”
Which colleges have given you offers/interest? Do you have a favorite? “No favorites just yet, trying to keep all options open. (I believe the list on rivals is most accurate..i lost track)”
Which NBA/College player would you compare your game to? “HA!, I’m not sure about that one. who would you compare my game to?”
What do most people not know about Jason Morris? “I’m a music man, play piano.”
You have played for different AAU teams. Which team will you play with this summer? “I?will play for the New York Gauchos.”
How would it feel to be selected to the McDonald’s and Jordan teams for next year? “It’d be a great honor and I would step up to the plate and do what i do best.”
As of now, are you thinking about going pro in a few years? “As of now, of course, the possibilities are endless.”
If you were in a dunk contest, what kind of dunk would you do? Please describe. “Off the wall 360 between the legs, easy for a high school gym since there’s usually a wall a few feet behind the baseline. its like a self alley bounce off the wall.. been working on it.”
This summer will be a big one for Morris. To obtain more scholarship offers he will have to show what he is made of. To play with the Gauchos is huge especially since so many big names have come out there (for example, Rasheed Wallace). We want to thank Jason Morris for the interview and wish him the best of luck in his commitment.
