Tiffany McCarty

When you travel down to Florida, the weather isn’t the only thing thats hot and blazing. Florida is known for producing top athletes in football and soccer; you are guaranteed a great performance everytime. Florida State University has its own top soccer player and her name is Tiffany McCarty. This 5’4 freshman has been one of the top goal producers for Florida State University for the Womens Soccer’s 2008 Fall Season.For her college career, in her 2008 fall season, she has scored 11 goals and made 6 assists. In her past high school career and ?the accomplishments she has made during that time, she has played for the U-16, U-17 and U-18 U.S. National Teams, she finished her high school career at St. John’s as the all-time leading scorer with 191 goals and 74 assists, her goals broke the Washington Metro area (including Washington D.C., Maryland and Virginia) scoring record held by Laurie Schwoy who had 188 goals,led the WCAC Conference in scoring for four straight years while helping St. Johns get to two of the last three WCAC Conference Championships, she was 2008 PARADE All-American, a three-time NSCAA/adidas High School All-American,a two-time NSCAA/adidas Youth All-American, NSCAA/adidas South Regional All-American 2005-2007,State Player of the Year in the District of Columbia 2005-2007) and named Gatorade Player of the Year in the District of Columbia in 2005, 2006 and 2007. MessGirl-As a freshman at FSU, out of all the colleges you were looking at why did you pick FSU? What about it “pulled’” you in?
Tiffany McCarty-The coaching staff and the players. I knew that if I can here I could be best I could be and of course the beautiful weather in Florida!

MessGirl-What are your strengths as a forward and what are somethings that you would like to improve on during your time at FSU?
Tiffany McCarty-I think being a forward, I am a goal-scorer, but you can always improve and one of my goals is to be better with that, creating dangerous plays and everything!

MessGirl-How do you feel about being one of the top producers for the team especially since you are just a freshman?
Tiffany McCarty-I think that is a combination of all of the components of our team.Our freshman class was very good this year and the older players took us under there wings so those together made us successful.

MessGirl-What team do you look forward to playing again in your 2009 season? why?
Tiffany McCarty- I look forward to playing Virginia Tech again this year…..for obvios reasons.

MessGirl-Who inspired you to grow and thrive as a top soccer player?
Tiffany McCarty-My family. I grew up with three brothers they kicked me around a little bit when we were younger and my parents. If it weren’t for them, I would have ANY of the opportunities I have now and nor would I be playing at Florida State.

MessGirl-How did you feel when you scored your first collegiate game goal?
Tiffany McCarty-It was good feeling. It gets your confidence up and bulids confidence for the next goal you want to score.

MessGirl-What are some of your future goals for your 2009 season and beyond?
Tiffany McCarty- I want to help my team win a National Championship! Trying to get better individually. If I strive for that I think everything else will fall into place.

MessGirl-This year you guys got to the quarterfinals of the 2008 NCAA DI WOMEN’S SOCCER CHAMPIONSHIP. What do you think are somethings your team can improve on or do to get you guys to the final 4 and even the Championship game ?
Tiffany McCarty-I think we need to come together as a team and know all of our goals as well as being mentally prepared for all of our games.Everything else will work itself out.

MessGirl-What do you think the incoming ’13 class will contribute to your 2009 season to help you guys succeed even more?
Tiffany McCarty-I think they are a good group of girls who ready to come and play next year.

MessGirl-Who is your favorite soccer player (female or male) and why?
Tiffany McCarty-Thierry Henry, in his Arsenal days, he was the best strikers in the world!

With goals already set for next season, Tiffany McCarty has set her eyes on the prize; DI Championship Game. With hardwork, determination, teamwork, and dedication, Tiffany McCarty will strive to be not only the best she can be but to be the best in Division 1 for women’s soccer.
